De route voert over vele smalle bruggen en eilandjes. De natuur ontmoet architectuur in de vorm van bijzondere bruggen. De weg verbindt het eiland Aver\u00f8y met het vaste land, en heeft acht bruggen met een gezamenlijke lengte van 8274 meter. Het maakt een enorm verschil of je de route rijdt op een zonnige zomerdag, of tijdens een flinke storm. Volgens de Lonely Planet gids is het een van de beste plekken ter wereld om over je liefdesverdriet heen te komen. Volgens anderen is het d\u00e9 mooiste weg om met de auto te rijden. In alle gevallen is het een bijzondere ervaring. De Atlantic Road is deel van weg 64 van Molde naar Kristiansund.
