It is fun for children as there are troll statues along the route.

About 10 minutes' drive away is the village of Fiksdal. This is a picturesque village by the fjord, among the mountains. If you turn onto the road to Vatne at Fiksdal, you come to a narrow but idyllic road. Past the village, you drive into the forest. Immediately on your left you see a small car park marked with signs for Stikk Ut and the troll route. Here you park your car for a 5.5km route.

This is where the troll trail starts. With small children, you can choose to walk only part of the route, for example up to the little bridge. This stretch contains most of the statues. Picnic tables have been placed all along the route.

The route is fun for all hikers. It is a relatively light route. The ascent is less steep and the trail is mostly on a dirt road. The first part goes through forests. The second part you have great views over the village of Fiksdal and the fjord. The trail returns to the car. It is about a 1.5-hour walk.

The route is well signposted. From the car park, turn left onto the paved road. You follow the red signs, after a few hundred metres you turn right onto a dirt road into the forest. A bit into the forest you find the first trolls. After a good kilometre you turn left onto the goat track. This is a steep and tricky section though. You follow the path to the stream with the wooden bridge over it. When you cross this, the goat track continues for a bit. Then you come back to a dirt road which you turn right. You walk for about a kilometre parallel to the contour lines through the forest. Then the path descends sharply and you have beautiful views over Fiksdal and the surrounding area. You follow the road down and walk the last stretch on tarmac back to the car.

[14

post-1596","post","type-post","status-publish","format-gallery","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-wandeling","post_format-post-format-gallery
["GET
