Aursjøvegen:

The Aursjøvegen is a beautiful route straight through Norway's impressive mountainous landscape. The route runs from the beautiful and fertile Eikesdalen with the magnificent Eikesdalsvatnet, through several hairpin bends to the high plains. You have breathtaking views as you climb up and impressive area of snow and peaks on the plateau. You pass the lake dam Aursjøen at 862 metres. You also pass the Mardalfossen waterfall and see the mountains of National Park Dovrefjell. The road was built in 1947 and is open from June to October. It is a toll road.

From the flats, you can take a tour that includes visits to Aursjøvegen, Eikesdal and Mardalfossen. The route is around 400 km. However, this is a trip that will easily take you 8 hours. The roads in Norway are not smooth, and besides, the views are so beautiful you'll want to take your time. Along the way, you'll find beautiful places to stop for a picnic. You might consider doing the route in two days and renting a hotel or stuga (small cottage) along the way. From the flats, drive to Vestnes, take the 136 to Åndalsnes. From there, drive the 64 to Eresfjord. From Eresfjord go to Eikesdalen and the start of Aursjøvegen. Follow it to Sunndalsnøra, from where you take the 62 to Molde. There you take the ferry to Vestnes and drive back to the flats.
