Bunkers

  • World War II bunkers. Norway was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War, from 1940 to 1945. About one kilometre from Romsdal Feriesenter, you’ll find bunkers and trenches dating from the Second World War. There are around 40 different remains of bunkers, trenches, barracks and the kitchen. Turn right onto the road directly from the flat. Shortly after the farm, you’ll see a turn-off to the left, marked by a wooden information sign. This is a footpath. Take this path. You’ll soon come across the bunkers. If you’d like to find out more about Norway during the Second World War, you can also visit Ergan Coastal Fort, an old fort with a museum about this period in Bud. It’s a two-hour drive away. The walk to the viewpoint starts from the bunkers. You climb up to it via a staircase built by Russian prisoners of war during the war.
