Het Roer Om

Very exciting and weird to be on TV. You always come across differently than you see yourself anyway, and they only show a selection of their choosing. Which doesn't always help the balance because drama sells. Fortunately, you can easily see how beautiful it is here. There is a bit much emphasis on the dilapidated cottages in the grounds, which are basically nothing more than a bonus. Now that spring has come, we are also renovating the outside, as we would like to turn the bonus into something beautiful. In winter, the inside is a better choice. The outside presents challenges, as unfortunately on the West side, a good portion of the internal structure is also rotten. This challenge is definitely outside our comfort zone, but despite what is said in the episode, Dennis has an Engineering degree and we have done a lot of remodelling over the years. I am so curious to see if we will also manage to bring back the charm of the old 1860s farmhouse.

Being followed by a film crew was a special experience. They were here three times at a time when your life is pretty much turned upside down. Nice people and sociable. As emigration shows, we like new challenges. We've always done things a little differently than average. At 24, for instance, Dennis started his own IT company, which he has built into a thriving business. Besides the renovation of the old farmhouse, we are also getting the boats and flats ready for the summer. In between, there is also time for fishing.

We are looking forward to the new season and hope to welcome you! On the site, also read about all the possibilities for day trips and hikes, as there is much more to do here than just fishing and boating. Or click here for our digital travel guide.
