A haven of peace by the fjord

Freya's Farmhouse will come up for rent during 2026. Contact us about the possibilities.

This 1860s farmhouse is located on the coast between Molde and Alesund. The low-beamed ceilings give it a rustic atmosphere, as do and old beams of the earlier building style that can still be seen in some places. To bring it up to date, many newer elements are also present and a bright atmosphere has been created. The result is a charming building where it is good to stay. Only for tall people is it less comfortable. The spacious terrace gives a great view of both the Romsdalsfjord (Midfjord) as the imposing mountain in the backyard.

You can walk to the harbour from where you can fish and sail in five minutes. The area is home to many of Norway's highlights, such as the Geiranger fjords, the Atlantic Road and the Trollstigen. You can also enjoy hiking and we are between the picturesque towns of Alesund and Molde. All the ingredients for a wonderful holiday are present.

Layout and facilities

Freya's Farmhouse combines the nostalgia of 1860 with the comforts of today. It is a house with character, space and plenty of light, but with its original dimensions. This can be uncomfortable for tall people.

  • Living & Cooking: The living room is bright and offers soothing views of the trees and the fjord. The kitchen is in a separate room and gives direct access to the spacious private terrace.
  • Sleeping:
    • Ground floor: Here you will find a cosy single room.
    • Deepening: Upstairs are the other three rooms. The master bedroom is the eye-catcher: spacious with flexible beds, visible old ’tømmer’ beams and a historic window. Unique detail: either side of this room has access to a large storage space (approx. 6m²) under the sloping roof. Ideal for storing all your suitcases and belongings out of sight.
    • Other rooms: There are also a twin and a single room upstairs. These are both of a modest size.
  • Plumbing: You have a bathroom with shower and toilet, plus a separate second toilet.
  • ⚠️ Important: Historic Measures  Let's face it: people used to be smaller. Therefore, keep the following in mind:
    • The stairs:Here everyone Just bend down at the entrance.
    • The doors:Are you longer than 1.80m? Then you have to bend over for the doorposts.
    • The ceilings:Are you longer than 1.95m? Then on the ground floor you bump your head against the ceiling.
    • This property is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Accessibility & comfort

It is important to us that everyone can enjoy Norway. That is why our flats are excellently adapted for guests with reduced mobility.

  • Accessibility: The flats (1st floor) are barrier-free and level with the terrace thanks to their hilly location.
  • Plumbing: For your safety and convenience, the toilets are equipped with sturdy support rails.
  • Sleep: We have some electrically adjustable beds (high-low). This provides extra comfort and makes getting in and out of the bed much easier.
  • Sailing: Do you want to fish? Our boats are stable and spacious enough. Just keep in mind that boarding requires teamwork: with a helping hand from your travelling companions, this is quite manageable.
  • Pets: not allowed
Midsummer night fishing

An angler’s paradise

Our location is the perfect base for sea and fishing lovers. Cast your rod in the fish-rich waters right outside the door; who knows, you might catch the fish of your life!

  • Boat rental: We rent seaworthy boats to go up the fjord by yourself.
  • Fishing Adventure / Panoramic Fjord Tour: Less experience? Book a trip with an experienced guide. He will teach you the secrets of sea fishing and show you the most beautiful spots.
  • From the shore: You can also enjoy casting a rod from the pier.

Strategically located between Molde and Ålesund

Not only on the water, there is also plenty to do on land here. Our location in Vestnes is the perfect base for day trips in the Møre og Romsdal region.

  • City breaks: You are right between the Art Nouveau city Ålesund and the rose city Molde in. Both can be reached within an hour (including a scenic ferry ride).
  • Highlights: World-famous attractions such as the Trollstigen, Geiranger and the Atlantic Road (Atlanterhavsveien) are perfect destinations for a day trip by car.
  • Walking: You don't even need to take the car. Right behind our property and in the immediate vicinity of Rekdal, several hiking trails start. From easy walks along the coast to challenging treks into the mountains for spectacular views.

Flexible stays: from couples to large groups

At Romsdal Feriesenter, you won't find thirteen-in-a-dozen rooms, but accommodation with its own character. Whether you choose the rugged atmosphere of a converted barn or the nostalgia of a 19th-century farmhouse, you will wake up every morning to the tranquillity of the fjord. We are a small family-run business and are happy to share this beautiful, peaceful spot by the fjord with you.

Space for everyone (up to 24 people) Travelling with a large group, such as a fishing club, a group of friends or several families? No problem. As our flats and the holiday home are close to each other on the same property, you can easily combine them.

This allows you to create your own ‘private village’ with a total capacity of up to 24 people. You are cosy together in one location, but with the comfort of your own kitchens, bathrooms and privacy when you wish.

Evenings by the fire

Want to spend the evening by a crackling fire overlooking the vast fjords? We have a fixed fire pit, as well as separate fire bowls to use at your own campervan. Wood is available at reception (NOK 60 per basket).

Children have a great time on our site.

  • Animals: Our two bunnies love grass, dandelions and attention from children.

  • Water: Swim in the harbour (nice and deep but sheltered), paddle, or hunt for shells and sea creatures along the tide line.

  • Bunkers: 1 km away are World War II bunkers. Exciting to wander around (with torch and sturdy shoes!) in them.

  • Delights: Roasting marshmallows and sausages over the fire is always a success.

Hiking in the area

Put on your hiking boots! There are many possibilities right from the Romsdal Feriesenter:

  1. Bunker tour: An easy and fun walk to the WWII bunkers.

  2. Viewpoint ‘Nakken’: Slightly more challenging. You climb a historic staircase (made by prisoners of war) to a stunning viewpoint.

  3. Mountain tour Rekdalshesten: For real climbers. Start from the site or drive to the mountain car park first for a shorter route to the summit.
